Prophets of Doom, Then and Now
“The changed political atmosphere [mid 1920’s economic recovery] in this period was not especially conducive to volkish ideologies, making the appearance of ardently nationalist utopias extremely rare. The majority of authors with German nationalist or National Socialist views were too incensed by the staying power and/or stabilization of the “Jewish-Bolshevist-American-November Republic” to muster much utopian optimism to wield against the reigning ‘system’. Instead volkish utopias yielded to dystopias that angrily denounced what was perceived to be a decline of ‘volkish’ or ‘German’ values in Germany. In these novels, Germany’s ‘conciliatory’ foreign policy toward France and its close cultural ties to the United States are presented as a humiliating depravation of the best of Germany’s traditions. The vast majority of such novel concluded with provocative visions of the world’s demise or swerved off into various visions of flight and exile, where the last of the ‘true Germans’ are told that it would be better to emigrate and establish ‘racially conscious’ colonies beyond Germany’s borders than to remain in Germany and continue to be exposed to the corrupting influences of a general ‘Americanization, negroidization and jewification’.
Perhaps the best example of such a dystopia is Hans Heyck’s 1929 Deutschland ohne Deutschen (Germany without Germans). This novel take place in the year 2050 and features a future Germany wallowing in a state of complete disintegration and degradation. As a direct result of the ‘internationalist’ policies of the Weimar Republic, the German Reich has been transformed into a land where racial miscegenation reigns supreme and where a faceless and standardized population lets itself be ruled by a ‘mulatto despot’ who takes pleasure in violating a white virgin every day of his rule.
That is only half of it, however. In every corner of this shabby state, Americanism, technocraticism, commercialism and eroticism have the upper hand; Jewish-Oriental, vulgar-African, and Negroid-American qualities have come to the fore and are taking on worse and worse forms. Like France—whose 18 million whites are confronted with 20 million blacks and mulattoes—a depraved and bastardized ‘racial chaos’ has enveloped Germany, turning it into a racial melting pot in which values such as ‘the homeland’ ‘the Volk’ ‘discipline’ or ‘the willingness to sacrifice’ have no meaning. Naturally, the whole system is being secretly run by the Jews, in this case the wealthy Jonathan Papier, who, along with the American James Violet and England’s Lord Kanthanaan, is one of the world’s richest men.
Despite the sorry state of Germany, almost no one seems at all indignant about conditions in the Reich, a sure sign of almost complete ‘jewification’ and ‘negroidization’ of the German people. Face with such a situation, the few racially conscious Germans (a mere 250,000) emigrate to Norrland in northern Sweden in order to found a colony for the blond and blue eyed. There they live in splendid isolation form the world, devoting their energies to breeding a new master race.”
-Passage from Old Dreams of a New Reich: Folkish Utopias and National Socialism by Jost Hermand.
Does this sound familiar? It should, as this is exactly the line that most defeatists preach today. Prophets of doom exist in every era, it seems. And regardless of the facts, they always say the same thing; it’s too late…run for your lives.
The reason this line remains consistent throughout time is because it is useful in justifying cowardice. The thought is; ‘If I determine a priori that there is no hope, then I don’t have to risk anything by actually fighting or standing up’ (that you still have a duty to fight even if you think things are hopeless, is something they don’t consider apparently).
Someone, after reading the quoted passage above, may interject—‘Ha! See what he said about Germany, it came true!’ Well, yes it did. But that doesn’t mean it will stay that way forever. And it doesn’t take away from how wrong he was at the time. Not five years after Hans Heyck published his depressing book, the Third Reich had taken power. How foolish must he have felt? Had he already run away to northern Sweden? (or rural France lol)
In my estimation, the inability to see positive futures and work towards them is a form of brain damage (that I believe depression can induce). People put on the falcon hood, and all they can see is complete darkness. And if they stay in this state too long, they will no longer even believe it when some light(reality) pokes through the mask.
Believe it or not, I have heard people talk about running to northern Sweden as some kind of clever escape plan. The plan wouldn’t have ‘worked’ 100 years ago, and it sure as shit isn’t going to work now. You will have Afghanis and Somalians for neighbors in five years. The world is digitally mapped and monitored constantly by the enemy—there is truly nowhere to run.
But this is all to the good. We must stop running and start attacking. As Revile Oliver rightly said, it will suffice to note that, first, in war and in politics defensive tactics always fail against a determined and persistent enemy. (If you think there are exceptions, think them over.)
